This painting is based on an archaeological site that I've visited regularly near my home. The bubbles were originally from a photograph taken when a friend was blowing bubbles there, and then they became a vehicle to contain images of imagined people whose burial places have very recently been excavated, thus revealing details about themselves and their lives led long ago. It also marks the transition of this somewhat sacred place to land that will be built on and lived upon once more. Currently there is a feeling of loss in the community for these fields, rich in history and wildlife, where people could walk locally.
