Two channel moving image (13:15, 11:00) screenprint on textiles, found objects, quilted blanket, archival tape, sound loop (07:48)
The fragmented narrative of The Organised Body installation intends to work as a tableau of memory or dreamscape. Two films are projected onto different spaces. One onto a quilted screen, tied across the space with archival tape, the other onto objects. Things used in previous works appear in new forms, and a dreamlike and disjointed sound loop creates an environment of unreality.
On screen, hands arrange; sorting objects into aesthetic arrangements. A stone, a grape placed onto an orange gridded blanket. Again it feels familiar, objects seen before. An archive of stuff, used repeatedly. Pebbles are poured out onto a fabric grid and painstakingly arranged. A person sits cross legged, absorbed in the task of unravelling a tangled pile of wool. The sea breaks over the gridded fabric. On the other projection, the same hands carefully put objects away. They mend and tend to.
It all feels like fragments of memory, or a dream. An elliptical narrative where you can start to make associations, or just watch as it washes over you.
