The Passion

Unusual for me to work in this way on paper - it is the way I work with recent paintings, oils layered and wet on wet. Here I've used acrylic and collage on paper. The final layering wet into wet was intuitive and expressive with an energetic approach that was intentional. I was surprised with the result and this has become a pivotal painting for this season of paintings. It gives me hope.

Bcalm has a history of transition starting from 2013 when I exhibited this painting in a solo show in London, Thomas and Paul Gallery. Returning after the show I modified the painting by simplifying the complex array of shapes and making subtle changes to the colour values. Then in early 2015, post West Pier Art project, I changed it again.
