The Shape of Sound and Light at Prefab Lab, Bath

By  Chris Wright 2016
Prefab Lab residency from June 1st to 4th at 20 Milsom Place, Bath, open 11am and 6pm. PREFAB-Lab is a creative laboratory for observing, exploring and debating the artistic triangle: practice, research, exhibition. Transitioning from working lab to exhibition during the festival, PREFAB-Lab protocols playfully ask artists and observers to consider what artistic research looks like, how and where it functions and what its results are, questioning whether or not these results match the ‘ready-made’ we encounter in exhibitions (from press release) My proposal is to investigate using sound and light as momentary structures to construct an ephemeral sculptural object as solid as the artefact as object but that promotes a fluid creative process whereby ideas are generated that can transcend the stuckness of the conventional artefact. The image shows the ambiguity of light reflections on water taken at a recent sound conference in Italy.
