The Three Graces

The title of this piece refers to various interpretations of the myth of the three daughters of Zeus named Bloom, Mirth and Joy. The first artist to use the title was G Pillion in 1534 for the tomb of Henry II. Throughout the centuries artists have created work that relates to man's perception of women as Faith, Hope and Charity. Following the myth was not my intention. The title came later after I had completed the piece. For me the work is about individuality, and the duality of beauty and violence.
