The Uncanny Home (detail)

By  Lucy Bevin 2021
The Uncanny Home is an installation comprising a built room inside the gallery which houses a film, sculptural pieces and other hidden spaces within the walls. The work explores how the body inhabits the home and how it writes itself on the body. This is partly conveyed by the use of wallpaper which acts a container and boundary, a crossing over from one state to another in the surface an behind the surface of the wall. In the same way that the home contains a multiplicity of spaces the work endeavours to explore its thresholds, boundaries and hidden spaces.
