Untitled (leaves)

Residency installation at Brush Creek Foundation for the Arts, Wyoming, USA. I found piles of poplar leaves beneath the trees along the creek and took them back to the studio, laid them out and waited until they were dry. Nailed to the wall they acquired an animated presence, slightly mischievous, like faeries or imps of the wood, enchanted. These were made at Easter time and lightheartedly became my 'Resurrection' piece, having been quite dead, moldy and matted when I found them, then distinctly alive and joyful.
