Untitled [Work in progress]

By  Natalie Ramus 2018
Growing out of the Blood//Honey works I have made previously, I wanted to experiment to see if there was a way of fixing the fluid appearance of the menstrual fluid whilst preserving it in a more permanent way (with Blood//Honey the works are temporary as the organic materials eventually break down leaving the vial containing a muddy brown murky substance). For these experimentations I have replaced the honey with Polyester Resin, and I think that this material completely transforms the work. Notably there seems to have been a chemical reaction which has affected the colour of the menstrual fluid. This process truly feels like an alchemical one. The end results seem to look like landscapes - I like to think of them being fragments of the internal landscape of our bodies, captured, and illuminated in a frozen moment of time.
