VOICES is a video work that uses the mouth, teeth, and voice as both medium and subject to explore intimacy through extreme proximity. Emerging from an imagined self-interview, the work traces contradictions surrounding agency, self-perception, and inner criticism. Through fragmented responses, it reflects on self-hatred, vulnerability, and the difficult process of self-acceptance. The piece asks how exposing personal wounds can serve to confront sociopolitical uncertainty and emotional disorientation. Ultimately, VOICES becomes a meditation and a proposition on how despite our embodied traumas and inherited memories, all carried through the body, we may still perceive ourselves as whole and worthy beings.
