Wherever I Go There I Am

By Rod Dee 2011

Wherever I Go, There I Am is based on a fantasy of getting lost in the city – a desire that is not a matter of geography so much as identity.

Subsequently in A Field Guide to Getting Lost, Rebecca Solnit writes that it’s only when we’re lost does the world become larger than our knowledge of it. Although to what degree is this possible when the multiplication of new technologies, advertising and the design of public and private space only serve as continual reminders of who and where we are?
