World within World, version II

This is the second version of a work, originally made during a residency at the Armley Mills Industrial Museum at Leeds. This version was built for the exhibition 'Landscape and Uncertainty' at the Southampton City Art Gallery and, in part, responds to Hamish Fulton and Stanley Spencer's landscape works within the art collection at Southampton. Thickets of branches act as sets of vertices, which partially enclose the space of this installation, disturbing and obscuring viewing points. the work maps, from memory, a walk made along the canal to the textile mill.
