Bursaries 2024

In 2024 we gave out £500 bursaries to the following Axis Professional Members: Sarah Skinner, Caitlin Griffiths, Michael Takeo Magruder, Hannah Leighton-Boyce, Michelle Baharier, Ricky Romain, Luminara Florescu, Catherine Wynne-Paton, Jera May.

These flexible grants support artists at key moments and provide a much-needed boost of financial support that can then help them realise smaller projects or go towards developing larger bodies of work. By keeping the process light and responsive, bursaries show our belief that sometimes the smallest grant can make the biggest difference.

“I was so delighted to have received the Axis bursary.  I’ll be using it to explore new ways of working as a disabled and chronically ill artist through “mapping” sessions with the wonderful Lydia Catterall.”

Luminara Florescu, Bursary Recipient 2024

“Many thanks to Axis for the bursary which as all my fellow artists know is so helpful. I received the money a couple of days ago, and this morning spent some of the money on canvas and linseed oil from Russell and Chappell.”

Ricky Romain, Bursary Recipient 2024
