Having graduated from The University College of Wales in Aberystwyth with a BA (Hons) in Visual Art, for the past 23 years I have painted the landscape of Wales. To develop my work, explore the nature of observation and explore what I might learn from the rigour of scientific enquiry, in 2014, with support from The Arts Council of Wales, I undertook a residency at Skokholm Island Bird Observatory.
In the last 9 years I have been working with glass and have made a number of conceptual pieces in response to historical and poetic stimulus as well as to landscape elements. In 2012 I won the international Warm Glass Prize (Bullseye Category) for my piece, 'Her House is Air'. In 2013 I won the Adrian Henri Poetry in Art Prize. My work, Profile, is currently on show at The British Glass Niennake in Stourbridge.
With Rachel Phillips I have recently formed the creative partnership, Studio Melyn. Together we undertake architectural glass commissions. Our commissions include three stained glass windows for Conwy Castle and Skokholm Island. We Have renetly completed windows for the Chapel Royal, Beaumaris Castle.
Alongside developing my own practice I have extensive experience of working as a community artist facilitating arts activity with a wide range of people defined as having special needs across Wales and in London and the South East. I am currently working with young people living with autism in Pembrokeshire.
