Brett’s artistic practice expresses an intense interest in the personal, in everyday experiences that transcend the ordinary through Photography, Moving Image & Sound. Her approach incorporates a rigorous and often personal engagement with her subjects, frequently spending long periods of time developing the trust and confidence of those she works with. Brett creates a momentary reality where a negotiation takes place between two people, where one reveals, whilst the other captures. What the viewer is then presented with is a peep into the subject’s world in which to gain an understanding of his or her experiences of life. Brett’s intentions are not to describe or illustrate but to visually question our sense of existence and challenge our perceptions of morality which in turn controls our differing views and perspectives.
