Central to my practice is painting. During the last three years my work has become more representational and included people as subjects. This has run alongside a deeper interest in the period of Western art from the Renaissance up to Romanticism, in particular Baroque. I have fed this interest with visits to London and Paris to see the large collections of artwork from this period and to the Naples area of Italy for its Baroque legacy and classical history. I have been studying the life, work and techniques of Caravaggio and Velásquez and this has resulted in a number of completed transcriptions of their work.
Prior to this I was painting abstract geometric works with an emphasis on Science and Speculative Fiction and whilst presently occupied with the Baroque mode of painting I plan to keep this line of creative exploration open.
