Clare Chapman

London
Painter

My paintings depict a form that moves in and out of focus, receding and pushing forward from one painting to the next, each painting directing the the next stage in this process of gradual transformation. The motif that is returned to remains on the edge of abstraction, in a liminal space that could be read as either in a state of atrophy or of growth, depicting an imagery and feel of something on the brink of either unravelling or retaining its wholeness.
