Jessica Wetherly
Jessica Wetherly (b. 1989) is a British sculptor. She received an MA in from the Royal College of Art (2019). She has also been awarded The Royal Society of Sculptors Gilbert Bayes Award (2020); The Broomhill National Sculpture Prize (2019); and The Stanley Picker Scholarship (2017) alongside a selection of residencies and public sculpture.
Wetherly uses sculpture to explore narrative. Her practise deals with issues around ecology and landscape. Through storytelling & personal reflection she creates complex multi-layered artworks where plants, animals & fungi can be seen as persons, teachers, guardians & kin. Her sculptural practice incorporates diverse materials and processes including ceramics, casting, fountains and digital print as a means to examine how endurance, fear & isolation open pathways into the imagination & connection with the non-human.
