Kathy Ross
Mixed media, Textiles
Kathy Ross is a textile and community artist using reclaimed and sustainable materials.
Textiles have always been part of her life. Recent years have brought her passions for environment and textiles together in her work. Found and reclaimed materials are used in her work to encapsulate transformation. The mundane and natural are worked with simple, repetitive stitches and combined with plant dyed fabric.
Her community projects have included eco-art projects in schools championing the reuse of household materials like plastic bags and paddling pools, culminating in a bold installations, including a woven fence. She enjoys the collaborative process and seeing how an idea evolves and is shaped by participants.
