I am both a sculptor and an artist who draws on an Ipad. A founder of the Crouch End Open Studios now in its 20th year, I now concentrate on my own work and on curation of occasional exhibitions at The Crouch End Gallery.
My sculpture reflects my environmental interests and is varied in both materials and concept, ranging from installation, commissioned outdoor ceramic work, to smaller ceramic or wooden works, usually of a semi-abstract nature. I have also explored the use of Fluorescent Acrylic sheet as an expressive material and recently completed a large concrete wall relief.
I draw extensively in traditional media and also draw on an Ipad - sometimes taking original black and white drawings on paper and importing them to the iPad where I work on them, introducing colour in an experimental manner.
Work on the iPad also includes ‘drawing videos’ - edited playbacks of drawings made of subjects in movement - for instance animals or dancers at the ‘Rombert Playground’
Lived Experience
I have worked as an artist throughout my life, even when working part-time in computing and bringing up two children.
As an example of this longevity -a ceramic tryptch I made in the 1970's was recently displayed in the International Exhibition ‘Re/Sisters - A Lens on Gender and Ecology’’ at the Barbican Art Gallery .
I continue to make curate and make work, both sculpture and iPad inkjet prints, that address current political and social issues.
