Suzanne Davies

Shap, Penrith, Cumbria
After living and working in Scotland for twenty years, I returned to Cumbria in March 2017. During 2017 I took part in Spring Fling and C-Art Open Studios Trails and was selected for the Lakes Artists

I studied painting & drawing at Liverpool College of Art and subsequently qualified as a teacher. My paintings and textiles have been shown in galleries in England, Ireland and Scotland and I have work in public and private collections in UK, Europe and USA.

Ideas are initially contained in ‘journey books’ – watercolour studies, photographs and text. Observation combines with memory and imagination, shaped and influenced by poetry, history, philosophy. From first beginnings new series of work take shape. Finished work is completed slowly -  oils on canvas or board, wool on needles, collages/montages.
