"Beacon"

By  Tim Pugh 2020
The installation was assembled from various washed up components ,collected from South Beach,Whitehaven,West Cumbria. The buoy acts as a warning beacon against manmade pollution and is a fusion of old and new working practises. The decorative yet functional stone tower is a reminder of my older, mainly decorative process whilst the use of contrasting manmade materials is a reflection of my current practise in creating beach pollution issue based beach artwork .I love this beach as I never know what to find ,washed up on the tideline and view it as an outdoor practise based research studio to try out new ideas and processes.
