Birks Mine Field Study

By  Tim Pugh 2015
The artwork is a three dimensional drawing made up of collected site specific materials gathered from the fields surrounding a defunct iron ore mine in West Cumbria. The materials such as wool, crow feathers and iron ore rich mud were arranged into small scale artworks accompanied by related maps and descriptive text. The artwork was a focussed response to the areas rich industrial heritage whilst also acting as a platform in which to experiment with the tactile nature of the texture, composition and forms of the gathered materials.Medium format,35mm and digital photography documented the results.
