Decisions Made Under Uncertainty:Three

Research in to the containment of radioactive waste led to ideas about our relationship to what lies beneath the surface of the land. The third piece in the series 'Decisions Made Under Uncertainty' uses a specialist containment material, Bentonite Clay. Unfired and exposed to air theobject made out of this material, a glove or gauntlet, is vulnerable and liable to crack or collapse despite being bathed in a constant mist. The title for this series is a phrase used by planners in relation to long term decision making processes, wherein the timescale within which these decisions will make an impact is so vast that it is impossible to predict the outcome. This work came out of the project Power in The Land, a publication relating to this can be purchased from www.powerintheland.co.uk
