About the sculpture "Deconstruction":
There is a tense relation between two distinct notions: The potential of the human figure as a subject to which a sculpture might refer, on the one hand, and the sculptural potential of what might be called a self-referring figurative object, on the other. Inspiration is drawn from the awareness of this tension towards realising a sculptural expression that explores this perceptual state of affairs. The sculpture entitled 'deconstruction' is part of a series of figurative studies. It is so called because it sets about deconstructing from representational models towards alternative notions of figuration. These notions may be seen as an arrested development of a sculptural process from figurative subjectivity to abstracted objectivity.
