Displaced is a mixed media wall based sculpture, made from burnt elm wood off cuts, recycled found wood and dried plant material. The construction is held together by screws, mending plates and paper yarn stitches. Shou sugi ban is an ancient Japanese technique of burning wood. The materials and processes used allude to the impact on the environment from wild fires and the forest clearing method of slash and burn.
