Electric Blue

A small painting yet expansive and has a seemingly powerful electric presence. The blues against the red and orange appear to sing. I worked on the value of the colours in relationship with each other. Underneath layers of paint I used found materials which have been integrated into the whole by painting over. There has been a radical shift from the initial surfaces to the resulting painting - an epic journey.

Bcalm has a history of transition starting from 2013 when I exhibited this painting in a solo show in London, Thomas and Paul Gallery. Returning after the show I modified the painting by simplifying the complex array of shapes and making subtle changes to the colour values. Then in early 2015, post West Pier Art project, I changed it again.
