Fall Out

This installation is made from Post it notes attached to the doors of my office/dining room. The work was based on the lost plans and expectations of ordinary life as people adapt to the effects of isolation, working from home, job losses and loss of many freedoms, a shattered window, a shattered view, devastation. The post it notes also signify lost communication, lost connection, blank, empty, like falling leaves, no longer useful, presaging the winter of stillness and rest and promise of new life in a later season thus making further links to the purpose of lockdown and self isolation. There is also a potentially joyful aspect to this work, that of confetti and celebration as people have time off work, a shared experience, a breathing space, connecting more with nature, briefly dispensing with work or office responsibilities. This work was initially inspired by The Royal Standard’s 48 hour art challenge TEMPORARY.
