Festoons and Facsimiles

By Joanne Masding 2017

Festoons and Facsimiles are freestanding architectural plaster works with inlaid casts of images in the surface. Made for solo exhibition Plaster Ghost Finger Cast at The New Art Gallery Walsall, they borrow from the starkness of the gallery walls, while holding within them the data of museological collections in the museum catalogue images that are cast into the fronts, and the fingers that made them left bare on the backs.

They have been exhibited in Plaster Ghost Finger Cast at New Art Gallery Walsall, 2017; In the Peaceful Dome at Bluecoat, Liverpool, 2018 and In The Green Fig Tree, Workplace, Gateshead, 2019.
