Posey Stones is a collection of pieces of glazed stoneware, decorated with coloured mother of pearl and metallic lustres. It was made in reponse to artifacts from Leicestershire Museums Collections and presented in solo exhibition Copy Out A New Shoot at Modern Painters, Loughborough, as part of their season Archive Fever.
Taking botanical artifacts from the collection as starting points for thinking about ideas of production and reproduction, Copy Out a New Shoot comprises works made in ceramic, wax, plastics, image and audio. Honing in on artefacts designed to teach, describe or demonstrate, including the botanical models of flowers used in Posey Stones, the works in the exhibition focus on how to differentiate between one thing and another, and how to know physical things.
Listen to ‘Store Guide‘, an artwork that borrows the exhibition guide format, with tracks to be activated in front of works across the space.
