Floating in Historical Abyss [1/15]

By  Adam Grose 2019
The image explores the many women throughout history who have contributed to history in so many ways, yet have been forgotten and/ or never received the recognition they deserve for the many contributions made to society. This etching comprises of many layers of women etched onto the plate, either via etching needle or masking areas off to create the silouette of the female figure. The plate is inked through various process to highlight the different areas of the plate, seeking the effect of figures floating in an abyss, awaiting to be found again and brought out of obscurity. The zinc etching forms part of my 'Lost Generations' series of works. [This has been entered in the RWA Open Exhibition 2019 - fingers and toes crossed as I would love to see this exhibited and on show for people to see.]
