Longrun to Cotherstone

By  Adam Grose 2024

This acrylic painting records the colours and marks seen along a journey from Longrun to Bishops Lydeard to Cotherstone Hill. The painting brings together various elements experienced allong the journey as I cycled from Taunton into the Quantocks and up to the summit of Cotherstone Hill, viewing the 360 degree view from the top, looking over toward Wales, Minehead, Clatsworthy, Wellington and Taunton.

The painting is built up via many layers of colours, erasing and rubbing back to reveal previous layers, evoking some of the weathered and worn objects I saw along the way. The colours come from some of the plants, buildings and objects seen in the landscape.
