Microcosm

By  Ann Goddard 2022

Ann Goddard

This piece was made for The 62 Group @ 60; Essence exhibition. The brief asked for pieces no larger than 30 x 30 x 30 cm, which convey what it is that motivates and drives our practice - its 'essence'.

The essence of my work is the juxtaposition of textile elements and techniques with disparate media and utilising the potential of materials and processes to evoke associations as a means of exploring ideas. For 'Microcosm' the burnt bark cloth and wood have been influenced by investigating the ongoing threat to nature from deforestation worldwide.

Materials: bark cloth, wood, linen thread, screws

Processes: burning, fabric manipulation, assembling, knotting
