‘Persian-Gray’

By  Linda Izan 2000

I made this ceramic piece from a single slab of White St Thomas fired at 1160C. Once glaze bisque fired, I applied a series of silkscreened transfers onto the slab and further fired at a relatively low heat 1080C. I then applied enamel ceramic colours and gold on to the fused transfers. Quite a lot of holding my breath with each firing and opening of the kiln as the doors opened. Why ‘Persian- Gray’ A blend of Gray’s Anatomy and the formal layout of Middle Eastern carpet design
