"Plastic Seas "

By Tim Pugh 2016
The mixed media artwork is part of an experimental series of artworks l am currently creating that deals with issues of consumerism and sea pollution.I found a plastic shopping bag at North Beach in Whitehaven ,West Cumbria and drew an old boat that was made and launched from North Beach many years ago.The image was then tethered to a post on the harbour where the boats used to take on cargo and various goods and export them around the world.I find it sad that the only export from the seafront now is litter and discarded man made materials that are carelessly flung into the sea and left to travel the seas ,posing a risk to wildlife and the maritime environment.
