Space exploration: Hesitation on the verge of destiny

By  Simon Fell 2008 - 2009

Simon Fell

This installation work comprises six ceramic objects linked together with three strands of bright red cord. The work also includes a piece of recycled furniture which holds two of the units, one inside and one outside and light fittings on the interior. The main ceramic elements consist of two forms, an organic one and a more geometric one. The glazing is expressionistic with three oxide rich glazes and slips overlapping to create dark and metallic areas in a free flowing, barely controlled way. This fictionalised (blurred) flash photograph gives the work a second generation, the recording of the artwork becomes an artwork in itself.
