My choice of materials reflects the domestic origins of ‘Sponge Tower’ and ‘Corrugated Tower’. The first piece developed from a series of small sculptures made from washing up materials: sponge, stainless steel scourers and washing-up cloths. The second piece from the domestic packaging that mounts up in all our recycling bins. There is a contradiction in having these temporary and lightweight materials cast into bronze. The work uses the weighty characteristics of bronze to create tension by being balanced on scarcely adequate legs. It was Awarded Chelsea Arts Club Trust Prize for mid-career artists at John Ruskin Prize exhibition 2026.
