The Artist's Table Cloth

A fusion of ideas that emerged from sketches made of a mixed media class I teach. I often sit on the floor and draw them working and so am presented with this under the table perspective. More and more the subject feels merely a reason to apply paint to a surface and the energy, agitation and then careful wiping away seems more important. The table cloth was the last to go in, applied intentionally with translucent paint with the aim of acting as an anchor to the surface without dominating.
