Under Concrete

By Ann Goddard 2012

Mary Stark

An installation of 70 small units

Materials: cotton noils, bristles, concrete

Techniques: cotton fibre paper making, mould making, casting

Inspiration came from investigating the impact of human activity on nature, in particular the change of land use resulting in mass extinction of species. The phrase ‘concreting over the landscape’ informed the processes used. The intrinsic qualities of the materials make reference to the fragility & vulnerability of ecosystems.
