Villus Villous

By  Ann Goddard 2008

Ann Goddard

Materials: silk carrier rods, monofilament

Technique: assembled construction, knotting

Temporary, site-specific sculpture, suspended from a tree in the grounds of Norton Priory as part of the ''Healing'' exhibition. The piece developed from research into medieval medicinal plants and the Doctrine of Signatures. The material used was chosen for both its vulnerability to the elements as a means of exploring ideas of impermanence and change, and also for its anthropomorphic form.
