Winchester Train Station Public Realm

Christopher Tipping

Commissioned in 2019, by Winchester City Council, this contextually based short research project was set up to feed into public realm design proposals for Winchester Station and Station Approaches. This public art project set out to celebrate the City of Winchester's rich history by examining its use of materials and decoration within its architectural legacy and landscape, particularly with an emphasis on Winchester Cathedral. As a Gateway to the City, the Station and its environment should give expression and provide interpretation as to what may be discovered beyond the Station.
