Ewan Robertson
Sculptural practice and thought allows a very real exploration of the physical world. All its aspects fascinate me. My work is fuelled by diverse sources and open patterns of thought. Current work explores extremes of visibility, experience, material nature, location and situation. Time's relationship with matter is a recurrent interest and has been explored recently through film loops, re-questioning a given material or object's physical state, longevity, use and nature. These aspects of the material realm were also the starting point for Ironfield (developed in collaboration with Gordon Munro). Showing this year's Cloud Dialogue in multiple configurations is the initial part of this ongoing project. Exploration and intuitive thought can unveil unique knowledge for the artist. The world is beautifully complex, diverse and effectively endless. Through working, I hope to move closer to seeing or experiencing something of that which is normally hidden in its fabric. Locations on the periphery remain the most interesting.
