The temporary installation was created during my residency at Borwick Rails,Millom,Cumbria as part of my participation in the ‘Unpublished Tour’ project. This was the first intervention I created at the site of a small creek on the Duddon Estuary. I used bricks left over from the dismantled former iron works near the site, which were scattered everywhere on the shoreline. The bricks had old former brick companies stamped on them and represented a fascinating legacy of a bygone Industrial Age. I purposefully used the red iron oxide bricks for visual impact and created a seven foot spire landmark reminiscent of the towns’church spire which can be seen for miles around .The artwork was blown down by the wind and proved useful for subsequent artworks where the bricks were recycled.
