The Hazel Grove Sculpture

Situated a couple of miles out of Stockport alongside the busy A6 to Buxton, this fascinating public artwork changes dramatically as you walk around it. It was inspired by the agricultural history of the area - from one viewpoint it forms the image of a single coppiced Hazel bush (cultivated for fencing and building construction in the past). Then it changes to a flowing mass of branches, before opening out to an avenue of seven individual trees - a Hazel grove.
