John Vincent

Letchworth Garden City
John Vincent is an artist and filmmaker based in Letchworth Garden City.

John Vincent is an artist and filmmaker based in Letchworth Garden City. His work moves across photography, video, digital media, and painting, using each form to process the textures of contemporary life creating images shaped by place, memory, and events or fragments that remain.

His visual language grows out of suburbia and the edges around it — its histories, its overlooked corners, and imagined futures. Vincent’s projects frequently draw on notions of the Gothic, folding in elements of horror, science fiction, and disruption to time to create narratives that appear familiar whilst feeling slightly out of sync with the real world.

In his most recent digital work, Vincent references Hal Fosters "The Real" - where the indescribable (through art or language) is revealed by making use of the dissonance between this apparent familiarity of an image/location source and the distance created through distortions and breaks within the final image.

He has exhibited in the UK and internationally, with commissions from organisations including Electric Medway, Broadway Gallery, and Eastcheap Projects. Through collaborative and research‑driven work, Vincent continues to utilise technology and lived experience to build narratives and spatial environments that invite viewers into worlds that feel close, but not entirely stable.
