The Axis Awards 2026: this year's recipients
For our 35th anniversary we said we would give more money directly to artists. 359 of you applied for this year's Fellowships and Development Awards, more than ever before, and reading every application showed us how much good work is being made across the membership. That made the decisions hard.
We're delighted to announce our three Axis Fellows and 35 Development Award recipients, who will share £47,000.
Axis Fellowship:
Each Fellow receives £4,000 and joins the 2026 Axis Fellowship programme:
Sarah Hardacre, Ngo Chun Tse, and Julia McKinlay
Axis Development Awards:
Each of these 35 artists receives £1,000:
Milly Aburrow, Amber Akaunu, David Appleyard, Kath Ashill, Linda Brassington, Joanna Byrne, Clara Casian, Meera Chauda, Jo Clements, Joanne Coates, Yasamin Ghalehnoie, Robyn Haddon, Simon Hall, Alex Hetherington, Tulani Hlalo, Jamie House, Natalia Janula, Verity-Jane Keefe, Fae Kilburn, Tegen Kimbley, Victoria Lucas, Laura Lulika, Natasha MacVoy, Joanne Masding, Shiro Masuyama, Kitty McKay, Emily Peasgood, Jameisha Prescod, Veronica Revuelta Garrido, Hḗrā Santos, Emily Scarrott, Andrew Vallance, Charys Wilson, Kayt Woods, Carla Wright
If you applied and weren't selected, thank you. There were far more strong applications than we had awards to give, and many were turned down only because we couldn't fund them all.
We know how much work goes into an application, so we've emailed everyone who applied with the chance to sign up for one of a limited number of one-to-one mentoring sessions.
Congratulations again to everyone selected; we'll introduce their work here over the coming weeks.
