Anna Masters
I am a multi-disciplinary artist with a practice including mixed-media, installation and social works. My practice is an exploration of the connections that are born between time, place and experience, and how these shape our sense of place in the world. The works are an examination of the legacy of the moment, the chance encounter, the fleeting emotion - they ask us to understand the world not by object, place or person, but by the relationships we build with them through often small, unconsidered and momentary interactions.
Through an examination of time and place, I explore the ways in which we navigate our physical and social landscapes, and how this process serves to construct narratives about our individual and communal identities. My mixed-media and installation works serve to deconstruct - and reconstruct - our material surroundings; a reimagining of object and material to create new possibilities in both the physical and temporal landscape. Meanwhile, my public and participatory artworks challenge the status quo and common wisdom of our relationships with community, land and place.
